Guillaume Latendresse was on 98.5 Sports last night and the former number 84 of the Montreal Canadiens spoke very clearly about Jonathan Drouin. In order to maximize his numbers, Dominique Ducharme must add Drouin to the dynamic duo of Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
"We have no choice but to play Jonathan Drouin with the Suzuki-Caufield duo. He's coming back in great shape physically and mentally. He's a player who can skate with those two guys. He can be creative and has the offensive skills to play with them," said Latendresse.
Opinion is really divided on Jo Drouin, as some see him completing a combination with Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson, then the more pessimistic see him on the third unit... with Jake Evans. Really? Jacques Demers kept saying that talented players have to play together. Period.
The third unit, according to Latendresse, should include Tyler Toffoli, Jake Evans and Josh Anderson. Is this really maximizing the talent of the players, especially Toffoli, who needs to play with a player who will be able to spot him in the slot, his favorite spot.
In short, the speculations about the combinations will go on until the first duel of the Montreal Canadiens because that's what hockey is all about in Quebec.
