The Montreal Canadiens announced that they have offered a professional tryout to right-handed defenseman Cody Goloubef. Goloubef, now 31, is a former 2nd round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2008.
In 160 games in the National Hockey League, he has a total of 25 points, including only three goals. He has yet to make an impact with the Jackets, Avalanche, Senators or Red Wings.
The 6-foot-1 right-hander may be known for moving the puck well, for his intelligence, for his excellent shot and for his fluidity, but it still hasn't translated to the NHL level.
In short, he will now try to get a deal with the Montreal Canadiens, who are looking to add a defenseman who moves the puck well to their squad. He may be competing with Chris Wideman for such a position...
