As just reported by TVA Sports Network in an article titled "Slafkovsky: le CH a pris sa décision", in announcing that Juraj Slafkovsky will be in uniform tonight against the St. Louis Blues, the Montreal Canadiens have made an important decision.
It probably means that Slafkovsky will be in Montreal for the rest of the season, as he takes an important step forward:
"Without fanfare, the Montreal Canadiens have made an important decision in the matter of Juraj Slafkovsky.
Under a rule in the collective bargaining agreement, the date at which Slafkovsky can move to full autonomy is moved up a year, as the Slovakian will be on the team's 23-man roster for a 40th game this season when the CH hosts the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night at the Bell Centre."
- TVA Sports
So if Kent Hughes had to send Slafkovsky to the Laval Rocket, he probably would have done so before tonight's game. That's what we understand from the report.
"Under a rule in the collective bargaining agreement, Slafkovsky moves up his full autonomy date by a year as he will be in the Canadiens lineup for a 40th game tonight.
The CH could have avoided this by sending him to Laval, but decided to keep him.
Clearly, the Tricolore has no intention of demoting him to the AHL..."
- Nicolas Cloutier, TVA Sports
For details:
Slafkovsky, 18, has 10 points in 34 games with the Montreal Canadiens this season.
