The Toronto Maple Leafs have just announced the signing of young defenseman William Villeneuve, who was selected in the fourth round (122nd overall) during the 2020 draft by the team from the Queen City. The agreement will be for a period of three years.
Villeneuve, 19, has played three seasons with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. In 33 games last season, the Sherbrooke native recorded 20 points, including three goals, while maintaining a +7 rating.
Villeneuve also finished the 2019-20 season atop the scoring charts among QMJHL defencemen with nine goals and 58 points in 64 games.
