The Montreal Canadiens have acquired forward Sean Monahan and a conditional first-round pick in 2025 from the Calgary Flames in exchange for future considerations.
Monahan, 27, previously spent his entire nine-year NHL career with Calgary, serving as an alternate captain since the 2015-16 campaign.
Here's the official statement:
The Brampton, ON native has registered 462 points (212 goals, 250 assists) in 656 regular-season games and won 50.5% of his faceoffs.
A three-time 30-goal scorer, Monahan enjoyed his most productive regular season in 2018-19 with career-highs in goals (34), assists (48) and points (82) in 78 contests.
He ranks in the Top 10 in Flames franchise history in multiple categories, including games played (9th), goals (8th), power play goals (6th) and game-winning goals (3rd).
For full details:
What a move though from Kent Hughes. He gets a first round pick + a player who scored 82 points and 34 goals, in 2019, and he gives absolutely nothing in return.
