Even though the National Hockey League free agent market has been open for over two weeks, the best player available is still technically free as a bird.
According to reliable sources, Kadri's next destination is already known: he has signed with the New York Islanders.
According to Seidel, a source in the know suggested to him that Nazem Kadri already has a deal in place with the New York Islanders.
That would be just like Lou Lamoriello. Remember that last year he waited until the end of September before announcing his signings, even though everything had been settled for weeks or months.
THERE'S NEWS
Former NHL scout turned Barrie Colts analyst and executive believes it's all settled
"Nazem Kadri will become New York Islander"
Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now, a source for the Avalanche, mentions that Joe Sakic's team would only have offered Kadri a short-term contract. This would possibly eliminate them from this race, and it fits with Seidel's information.
We must therefore expect to see Nazem Kadri play with the New York Islanders next season.
It's really surprising because they have absolutely no room under the NHL salary cap (so they will have to move), but that would be it.
