Like his older brother Nick, Marcus Foligno is a natural leader. He's always had it in him, which makes him an important member of the Minnesota Wild. Foligno, 30, has volunteered to pick up his 24-year-old teammate, Kirill Kaprizov, from deep in Siberia. He is ready to carry out this secret mission for the good of the team. Yes, this is said in the form of a joke, but we fully understand the desire of the veteran.
"I will personally fly to Russia and catch this guy in Siberia or wherever and bring him back on a secret mission!"
Foligno is aware of the potential of the Wild. His team has been collecting wins in 2021 (35 in 56 games) and gave the Vegas Golden Knights a run for their money in the first round of the playoffs. On the personal side, Foligno was imperious with 26 points, including 11 goals, in 39 games. Not to mention his 109 hits in only 39 games, which allowed him to finish the season ranked 1st on his team in this category.
In the case of Kaprizov, I remind you that he won the NHL rookie of the year award with an impressive 51 points, including 27 goals, in 55 games. He finished the season atop the team's scoring charts, while being a key cog in the Wild' offense. The problem now: his agent is asking for the moon and a short-term deal, which has the Wild and Kaprizov in a bind at the moment.
In any case, let's hope Foligno's message is heard by the Kaprizov clan...
