While the Tampa Bay Lightning are still trying to stay alive in the Stanley Cup Final series against the Colorado Avalanche (at the time of writing), some players could leave the organization soon.
As Kevin Allen reports, Tampa currently has no way to re-sign three of their players, namely Ondrej Palat, Nick Paul and Jan Rutta.
GM Julien BriseBois could always pull another rabbit out of his hat, another miracle, so we have to be careful but normally, we should expect these three players to leave Tampa Bay.
They really don't have room to sign them.
"The Lightning absolutely don't have the money to sign Ondrej Palat, Nick Paul or Jan Rutta, right now." - Kevin Allen
Allen does need to emphasize the "right now", because with the Lightning you never know, but we're likely to see (in the next few seconds) the last of Palat, Paul and Rutta, with the Lightning.
Not only do they have no room under the salary cap, but they are already in the negative for next year.
More details to follow!
