Tomas Plekanec is still playing professional hockey in his native country, then this one mentioned via his Instagram account that this could potentially be his last season. Plekanec has played 1001 games in the National Hockey League, 984 of which were in a Montreal Canadiens jersey. During his 15 years in the best league in the world, he collected a total of 606 points, which is no small feat!
That being said, the 38-year-old center has been playing for his country since the 2018-19 season, after playing three games with the Habs. This year, in three games with the Kladno Knights, he collected a goal and an assist. That team is owned by his good friend Jaromir Jagr, who is still playing despite being 49 years old. Now retired from the NHL, he is likely to do the same for professional hockey, he who has 23 seasons behind the tie.
"I did the math. I can't believe I'm entering my 23rd season of professional hockey! Growing up, I could never have imagined having a career that long. I wasn't even 16 years old when I played my first professional game. This season could be my last, so we'll see what happens. But I'm just as excited for this year as I was for my first game over 20 years ago."
Say what you will, Tomas Plekanec is a damn good person, then wish him to retire in style, like the player he is! The former number 14 of the Red, White, and Blue has marked the history of this majestic organization.
