Former Montreal Canadiens forward Tomas Tatar was in front of the New Jersey media today at the opening of the Devils' training camp. The latter signed a two-season deal worth 4.5 million per season with the Devils.
He was asked about a few things, including his stay in Montreal and the fact that he was left out of the playoffs more often than not. He mentioned that he is very happy to be in New Jersey.
Tatar was adamant there is nothing like the atmosphere at the Bell Centre. He thrived on the atmosphere that the Habs' home ice provided.
A reporter asked him to comment on the fact that he was left out of the Canadiens' lineup so often during the last playoffs. According to him, Dominique Ducharme's decision came out of nowhere. Obviously, he didn't think he was part of the problem with the Habs' lack of offense and sustained effort.
According to him, everyone has their share of responsibility in this kind of situation. However, he has a plan in mind, he hopes to make the Montreal Canadiens regret releasing him and not playing him in the playoffs.
Tatar repeatedly said he wanted to stay with the Habs. He loved the city, the team and his teammates, so it must have been a shock to leave the organization. He probably has some bitterness towards the Habs, which is legitimate. Maybe he felt like an old rag that was thrown away after being used. The business that is the NHL is sometimes cruel, but we should not neglect the human aspect of the thing.
