As Jakob Chychrun nears a return to action from injury, the trade rumors around the young defenseman have begun again. Especially since he has rejoined his teammates and a return to play is most imminent.

Rumors of Chychrun being traded by the Arizona Coyotes peaked last season just before the trade deadline, but an injury suffered on March 12 against the Boston Bruins cost him the rest of the season and the start of this one.

On Saturday night's 32 Thoughts segment of Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's Jeff Marek discussed the current market for Chychrun. Marek notes that the asking price on the Arizona side remains firm, and more importantly, very high:

- 2 first round picks
- A combination of prospects, picks and regular players

This request has seemed acceptable to a number of teams in theory, but discussions seem to become difficult when the "more" is mentioned. This has become most evident when it comes to the Ottawa Senators.

Marek reports that discussions for forwards Ridly Greig and Shane Pinto or defenseman Jake Sanderson are not on the table for the Senators. Given Chychrun's talent, age and cost-controlled contract (three years still at $4.6M on the payroll), the player makes perfect sense for a surprising team like Ottawa that has just turned the corner on its rebuild, and could use a boost to its blue line.

The Senators aren't the only team looking at Chychrun, and realistically, many teams are probably interested in acquiring him. But Marek mentions the Los Angeles Kings as another possibility beyond Ottawa, a name we've heard in Chychrun rumors before.

It will be interesting to see who wins the derby Jakob Chychrun!
