While the Habs had their share of problems with goaltenders in recent weeks, notably with the injuries of Carey Price, Jake Allen, Michael McNiven, Samuel Montembeault, and with the bad performances of Cayden Primeau, now the situation is finally improving.

After acquiring veteran Andrew Hammond, Michael McNiven is now back to full health.

The Habs organization has just made the decision to send him to the American Hockey League, with the Laval Rocket, to complete a tandem with Cayden Primeau.

On the other hand, he becomes an additional option for the big club if ever Montembeault wants to take the time to heal or if the Hammond experiment proves to be a failure.

Saturday morning, GM Kent Hughes moved and acquired goaltender Andrew Hammond from the Wild.

In exchange, Brandon Baddock moved to Minnesota.

In 2021-22, the Canadian goaltender, now 34, played 11 games in the American Hockey League. (6 wins, 2 losses and 3 overtime losses, 2.44 GAA and 0.908%)

So, for now, we have:

Montembeault and Hammond in MONTREAL

Primeau and McNiven in LAVAL, with Kevin Poulin

Plus, we just learned that it is Samuel Montembeault, who will face the St-Louis Blues tonight. He will be in net.

More details to come...
