We told you about it in the last few hours, the Montreal Canadiens organization announced that general manager Kent Hughes will be at a press conference tomorrow.

Hughes will indeed speak to the media (virtually) this Tuesday and it will be very interesting to see what he has to say, the day after the start of the famous 2022 NHL Combine.

This rather unexpected media availability has led some to wonder about a possible major announcement to come. After all, TSN's very own Darren Dreger mentioned this last week:

"The @CanadiensMTL is keeping a low profile, but we can expect Martin St. Louis' contract extension as head coach to be announced very soon." - Darren Dreger

And here, with this media availability announcement, it was tempting (and logical, I think) to make a connection, but no.

The excellent Chantal Machabée just clarified it all:

"Charles-Alexis, I read your text. Kent Hughes is doing a press briefing on zoom tomorrow at the request of the media working on the "combine." Why Tuesday at lunchtime? simply because it was the only availability he had. Have a good day!" - Chantal Machabée

So that doesn't necessarily mean that an announcement will be made tomorrow by Kent Hughes. He simply agreed to give a generous period of availability, for the media.

On the other hand, let's bet that the Montreal Canadiens' GM will definitely be asked about Martin St-Louis.

We have to get used to this new exemplary availability and to these generous press conferences. We love it.

Also, let's admit that it's incredible to see the change in communications. To see Chantal Machabée answer a question that many of us had, wow!
