New rumors about Canadians players are coming out every day. One of the most recent comes from the always interesting 32 Thoughts column by Elliotte Friedman and it concerns Jeff Petry

To date, Petry has just three goals and 11 points in 45 games after racking up more than 40 points for four straight seasons. He had 12 goals and 42 points in just 55 games last season! Things are looking up for Petry since the Canadiens fired head coach Dominique Ducharme to replace him with Martin St-Louis.

He still has three years left on a contract that pays him $6.25 million and his name has been linked to a few teams in the past. This time, Elliotte Friedman linked him to the Flyers:

«I can see Philadelphia being interested in Jeff Petry. It makes a lot of sense to them»

In a following point, Friedman explains that the Flyers could part ways with Rasmus Ristolainen by March 21. The latter has been in the NHL for a very long time and has never played a playoff game.

«I think Rasmus Ristolainen will be traded. He wants a playoff. Not only do I understand the desire to finally have a chance after nearly 600 games, but I can see Ristolainen thinking the playoff style would benefit his market value."

We can therefore conclude that Jeff Petry could replace Ristolainen on the Flyers' blue line if Chuck Fletcher manages to get rid of the Finnish defender.

To date, the Flyers have their 1st round picks in 2022 and 2023 in addition to a good bank of prospects. It will be interesting to see what Hughes might receive from the Flyers in return for Jeff Petry!
