The former head coach of the Canadiens, Dominique Ducharme, was on the air Thursday night on 98.5FM. He was questioned by Yanick Bouchard on several subjects, including his former team.
On Carey Price :
"No [I'm not surprised at the latest news]. Carey has wear and tear, he's played a lot of games. Is he going to come back to the game, I don't know, but I know he has some work to do on his body that's for sure." - Dominique Ducharme
On Nick Suzuki and the future club captain:
"I'll let them make the decision, but eventually he's going to make a good captain. He's a two-edged sword, but he's a guy who thrives on challenges. When we got into the playoffs, he took his game up a notch. He's a guy with character." - Dominique Ducharme
On Cole Caufield and the possibility of him becoming a 50-goal scorer in the NHL.
"He could. He has the skills to do it." - Dominique Ducharme
Regarding Caufield, Ducharme disagrees that he had a slow start. The former coach liked the young man's contributions during the 2021 playoffs.
He agrees that his summer was, like all the other players, too short and the fact that many were awarding him the Calder Trophy before the start hurt his start. The pressure was high for a young man who likes to perform. Not to mention his injury at the beginning of training camp. Ducharme considers that in his last few miles with the club, Caufield was progressing very well.
