There was a scary scene today, in Pittsburgh. Defenseman Brendan Smith was hit hard in the head by a puck during today's game against the Penguins. It happened around midway through the first period, when Smith attempted to block a shot by forward Danton Heinen.
Following the game, the Hurricanes released the following statement:
"Defenseman Brendan Smith was transported to University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for evaluation and imaging. He is in stable condition and has been released to travel with the team to Philadelphia, where he will continue to be monitored by the Hurricanes medical staff." - Carolina Hurricanes, Twitter
Hopefully he won't be spending too much time on the sidelines because of it.
