WOW: the Montreal Canadiens would have finally acquired their number one future goaltender by deciding to draft Jacob Fowler this summer
If there's anyone who knows the goaltending profession well, it's definitely Stéphane Waite. The former goaltending coach of the Canadiens has always had excellent expertise on the subject, and let's just say that the goaltending situation in Montreal has been generating a lot of buzz since the beginning of the season.
Even though Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault represent reliable options in front of the Canadiens' net this season, neither of them is considered the future goaltender of the organization, according to many.
On this topic, Waite recently made quite a statement on RDS about a very promising young goaltender in the organization.
As reported by the website Habsolumentfan.com, Waite, who is now a collaborator on the show Hockey 360, mentioned that he strongly believes in the potential of young Jacob Fowler and sees him becoming the future number one goaltender for the Canadiens.
"I'm confident that he is the CH's future number 1 goaltender. He's so fluid.. That's what you call a goaltender!
He's a natural, fluid in his movements. Honestly, I love everything about this young guy."
A third-round pick of the CH in the last draft, the young Florida-born goalie is having an impressive start to the season with the Boston College team, where he boasts an impressive record of seven wins against only one loss in eight games.
Furthermore, it's reported that he has lost a lot of weight in recent months, which has greatly improved his speed and fluidity in his play.
Even if Stéphane Waite's comments are reassuring, it's still too early to conclude that Fowler represents the future goaltender of the organization, as a few years ago the same was said about Cayden Primeau.
Only time will tell if Waite was right with this statement.
