In an interesting and comprehensive article on The Athletic, reporter Murat Ates, who covers the Winnipeg Jets, mentioned a rare trade basis between Montreal and Winnipeg involving Pierre-Luc Dubois.

It's true that we get our share of trade rumors, along these lines, but very little concrete basis.

Here is one of them:

"If the Jets finally decide to accept, say, Christian Dvorak + Josh Anderson + a prospect, for Dubois, the idea of getting two top-9 forwards (in return for Dubois) would be defensible. Winnipeg could try to sell that idea, saying it improves their depth and top-9 overall, but in the end it would be a run-of-the-mill consolation prize for the loss of Laine, a fan favorite, and Roslovic, who was really interesting." - Murat Ates

So it fits perfectly with what we thought. For a trade involving Pierre-Luc Dubois, Kent Hughes would have to include Christian Dvorak, a forward with a fairly high salary (Josh Anderson) and a prospect.

If the Montreal Canadiens acquire Dubois from Quebec this summer, we should expect this kind of trade:

TO MONTREAL - Pierre-Luc Dubois

TO WINNIPEG - Josh Anderson + Christian Dvorak + prospect (like Ylonen)

Would you do it?

Dubois, a 24-year-old native of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, has 60 points (28 goals) in 81 games this season with the Jets. He was drafted third overall in 2016 by the Columbus Blue Jackets and was traded from the Jackets to the Jets in January 2021 for Patrik Laine and Jack Roslovic.
