As we continue to try to decipher the (very complicated) deal between the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames involving Sean Monahan:
Now we have just learned a good one.
It's been under wraps, but as the excellent tipster Chris Johnston reports, in addition to Sean Monahan and the first round pick, Kent Hughes has a chance to get an extra pick in this trade.
That will depend on the very complicated terms that you can find (in detail) in the article attached above.
"Depending on how the trade terms play out following the Sean Monahan transaction, Montreal could potentially end up with one of the following picks:
2024 1st round (CGY)
2025 1st round (CGY)
2025 1st round (FLA)
2026 1st round (CGY)
2026 1st round (FLA)
The #habs could also get: a 2025 3rd round pick (CGY) or a 2025 4th round pick (CGY)." - Chris Johnston
We remind you that the complete conditions of the choices and the trade can be found here:
Hold the last bit, it's quite interesting. So we see that there are several options for the CH.
Remember that in exchange for all this, Kent Hughes (Montreal) sent to the Flames: future considerations. Period.
