Today was the famous Canadians for Children's Foundation golf tournament, and for the occasion, the media present at the event were able to ask a few questions.
Geoff Molson had an interesting message for fans when asked about the future of the team (which finished 32nd in the NHL in 2022).
See his full response:
"It's amazing how, even though we finished 32nd, the fans are still there for us and I think the last few months, it was something our fans were waiting for. For us to have a renewal, a fresh start, and I think everyone is happy and I hope it goes well." - Geoff Molson
Clearly, he greatly appreciates the fan support, despite a poor performance last season, and he's aware that it can't last too long.
He talks about "renewal" and "new beginnings", so we salute his nice synonyms to talk about the present rebuilding, but in any case, he seems really optimistic for the future of his team. It is encouraging!
It's funny because the Canadiens still seem to be afraid to use the term "rebuild" openly and publicly, but hey, we are well and truly in this process, and considering the solid work (already) done by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton, it seems that this rebuild will be completed sooner rather than later, especially considering the quality of the 2023 crop (both at the draft level, and at the free agent level)
It's promising!
