Ever since Kent Hughes joined the Canadiens, he has been spoiled. The team has played well over the past few games, which was not very representative of the Montreal Canadiens season in 2021-22.

The Montreal squad defeated the Stars and stood up to the powerful Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche. It wasn't perfect, but it was a wind of positivism.

However, the CH was given a major correction in Minnesota on Monday night by the mark of 8-2 under the watchful eyes of the new GM.

According to columnist Priyanta Emrith, it is a good thing that Hughes witnessed such a fiasco so early in his reign. This will necessarily motivate him to make changes, because this is exactly the kind of effort that the CH has been making for quite some time.

In a way, it's probably better for the new GM to witness the effort tonight (Monday) so that he can see first-hand all the ills of the Canadiens at the beginning of his mandate. The last three games Montreal have played since Kent Hughes was hired have been among the best performances of the season.

It's as if, since Hughes arrived, the players had found a certain motivation to play hockey. Why? Maybe Hughes sent some message in the locker room, after all?

However, with the game that the CH played on Monday, we were treated to the TRUE Montreal Canadiens. As the saying goes, chase the natural, it comes back at a gallop.

The players are just making it easier for the new leader. Heads are going to fall, sooner or later.
