Hughes and the Canadiens have acquired the perfect 3rd line player
During the opening of the free agent market, Kent Hughes made a good move by signing Alex Barré-Boulet.
He granted him a one-year, one-way contract for a salary of $775,000.
Last year, the young forward from Montmagny played 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he recorded 9 points, including 6 goals. However, he had a rather interesting streak of 7 points in 8 games played between October 21 and November 7, 2023.
This shows that Barré-Boulet has some offensive potential and let's say he is very happy to join the Canadiens' organization, where he will surely have the chance to secure a spot in the team's regular lineup during the next training camp.

And now, a post on X gives us a glimpse of what the Canadiens' starting lineup might look like for the upcoming season and, especially, which line the new acquisition might play on.
On the first day of the free agent opening on July 1, the X account of Daily Faceoff - Fantasy had fun predicting the starting lineups for the 32 NHL teams. When it came time to do the exercise for the Canadiens, Alex Barré-Boulet was placed on the third line alongside Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson.
Let's say the idea is quite interesting as he confirmed his offensive touch within the Lightning organization, mainly with the Syracuse Crunch, where he participated in the AHL All-Star Game twice.
But it must be said here that this is a projection rather than a prediction by Daily Faceoff - Fantasy, but it doesn't hurt to hope that Barré-Boulet starts the season on the Canadiens' third line and, who knows, finally launches his NHL career for good.
