But hey, speculation is part of professional sports, whether it's field hockey, basketball or soccer. Anyway, while scouring Twitter last night, before going to Morpheus, I came across a tweet about... Carey Price. Here's the content of it, from Sean Warren, a guy who is very knowledgeable about what's going on with the Vancouver Canucks.
So, if Warren's words are to be believed, Marc Bergevin could make an offer sheet, as he did previously to Sebastian Aho, to the team's star player, Elias Pettersson. The 22-year-old Swede is on the compensated free agent list after completing the three years of his entry-level contract. The young center should certainly sign a monster deal for the rest of his career, as he is a huge talent.
Not surprisingly, Pettersson, selected 5th overall in 2017, has been a force to be reckoned with since entering the NHL with respective totals of 66 (71 games), 66 (68 games) and 21 points in 26 games. Pettersson remains a dynamic, creative, crafty player who excels in all three zones and then has excellent field hockey sense. If such a scenario were to happen, it would be a coup for Marc Bergevin. But for now, Price is still a member of the Montreal Canadiens, so we shouldn't get too excited with the current speculations.
