It will be a rather quiet day for the Montreal Canadiens players today, but it will be a big day for Kent Hughes and his associates.

The training camp will officially end in the next few hours, and now it's decision time.

There will be some big choices to make.

Yes, the internal competition is extremely interesting this year.

Several young players have had good camps and could hope to be in uniform for the opening game, such as Oliver Kapanen, Joshua Roy (despite his more difficult game yesterday), Emil Heineman, and Alex Barré-Boulet.

All of them are potential candidates to temporarily replace Patrik Laine (who is currently injured) on the team's second line, alongside Kirby Dach.

Renaud Lavoie announces an important meeting for the Montreal Canadiens' management today

Indeed, there will be big discussions in the Canadiens' offices today, involving Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, and Martin St-Louis.

Which players will be cut? Who will start the season in Montreal?

We are very eager to find out, and rest assured that we will keep you informed as soon as the verdict is known.

«The final cuts will be made in the coming hours to comply with the NHL's 23-player roster limit.»

Another name to watch is Logan Mailloux, who seems to be competing with Justin Barron for a spot among the right-handed defensemen.

And you, what are your final predictions?

Personally, I believe that Kapanen, Roy, and Barré-Boulet will stay in Montreal, while Mailloux and Heineman will start the season in Laval.

More details to follow.
