Martin St-Louis Makes Lineup Change Ahead of Tonight's Game vs. Oilers, Removing Barron
We have just learned that young defenseman Justin Barron has been removed from the Montreal Canadiens' lineup.
David Savard is back!
After the veteran defenseman gave us a scare by unexpectedly missing Saturday night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, he will already be back in uniform tonight! (barring any unforeseen events)
This means that, whatever happened on Saturday leading to his impromptu removal from the lineup, it was fortunately nothing too serious.
Justin Barron is removed from the lineup, David Savard steps in as reinforcements
Indeed, it's the young Barron who takes the hit and will be heading back to the stands. This is starting to feel repetitive for him, and big questions will soon need to be asked about his situation.
It's also a big vote of confidence from Martin St-Louis in young players Arber Xhekaj and Jayden Struble.
David Savard, 34 years old, has recorded four points in 17 games this season, with a -5 rating and four penalty minutes.
He is expected to rejoin Lane Hutson on the Canadiens' second defensive pair.
Justin Barron, 23 years old, has registered just one point in nine games this season, with a -5 rating and six penalty minutes.
The Colorado Avalanche's first-round pick in 2020 (25th overall) is still struggling to establish himself in the NHL.
Details to follow.
If it were your decision, what would you do with Barron? Do you think he has trade value?
