Laine, who will be traded soon (at his request), has been linked to Kent Hughes and the Habs numerous times over the past few weeks.
He has been linked to the Canadiens not only because of Hughes' known interest in adding talent to his top-6 forwardsand due to Laine's immense offensive potentialbut also because Montreal is one of the few organizations with available cap space to accommodate the 6-foot-5 forward.
That said, following the Canadiens' major announcement today:
This is indeed a very interesting development for Kent Hughes in the Patrik Laine trade saga.
Indeed, the hiring of Pascal Vincent within the organization could very well unlock the Patrik Laine trade saga for Kent Hughes, one way or the other.
With Vincent's insider information, it could allow Hughes to move on and close the door, or it could give him the confidence needed to complete the trade.
A case to follow in the coming weeks!
Patrik Laine, 26, 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, was the second overall pick in 2016. He has accumulated 9 points in 18 games this season, 52 points in 55 games last season, and 56 points in 56 games the previous season.
Let's also not forget his two absolutely phenomenal first seasons in the NHL, during which he scored 36 goals (at 18) and 44 goals (at 19).
He could be an interesting project for Martin St-Louis and his offensive system.
