Several NHL scouts believe Logan Mailloux will never be able to play in the NHL
As the 2024 rookie camp is underway with the Montreal Canadiens, several young players in the organization are being closely watched, including Logan Mailloux.
As reported by the excellent Charles-Alexis Brisebois, Mailloux will definitely be a name to keep an eye on over the next 2-3 weeks with the Habs, as he has a real chance to establish himself as a regular NHL defenseman this season.
Especially now that Jordan Harris and Johnathan Kovacevic have been traded, the opportunity is there for Mailloux.
Is it already over for Logan Mailloux? That's what some NHL scouts believe
However, we had a strange revelation this morning when journalist Renaud Lavoie (TVA Sports) revealed that many experts do not believe in Logan Mailloux at all.
«As Renaud Lavoie reported this morning on BPM Sports during his regular segment on Le Club du Matin, scouts across the league do not seem to believe in [Logan Mailloux].» - Brisebois
Renaud heard from several well-informed individuals that, when it comes to Mailloux, «you have to forget about it,» and he will never be able to play in the NHL.
Wow.
Personally, I disagree and absolutely believe that Mailloux has a real chance to become an impact defenseman in the NHL. However, it's quite surprising to see scouts, true experts, already willing to say that it's over for Mailloux (who is only 21 years old).
«But what I'm wondering is if these statements hide something else. Are some people using his skating as an excuse because they don't think Mailloux has what it takes to succeed in a market like Montreal?» - Brisebois
Indeed, we wonder what such statements may be hiding.
We're talking about Logan Mailloux here, but in general, I always find it a bit ridiculous to give up on a 21-year-old player, especially one who has dominated everywhere he's played.
In any case, hopefully, this can serve as extra motivation for the very talented Mailloux.
