It was the first day of rookie camp where the young players were on the ice, but we also had the chance to see the regulars in action.
They were still on the ice!
When we say things got heated, we don't mean it negatively, quite the opposite! We're just saying there was some hard play in the corners, and the guys were extremely intense.
We love to see that the players are already training with high intensity, and they really seem determined to be fully ready for the start of the season.
After all, you play the way you practice.
In short, here's proof of the intensity displayed today by the Canadiens' players.
In the video, we see Michael Pezzetta get hit pretty hard (accidentally) by David Savard, and in the numbers no less, but what stands out is the immediate reaction of the Montreal Canadiens' new forward, Patrik Laine.
What a sight to behold!
Laine didn't hit Savard, of course, as he's his teammate, and there was no malice, but seeing him instinctively step up to defend Pezzetta and 'stand up' for his teammate is a very good sign.
Expect the 6-foot-5 winger to do exactly the same in game situations against other teams, and expect him to defend his teammates much more fiercely during real games.
This is promising! Patrik Laine is fitting in nicely!
