The possibility of a trade involving Arber Xhekaj is increasingly being discussed in Montreal.

The reason is simple: The Sheriff seems to be Martin St. Louis' 7th defenseman, having been a healthy scratch for the last two games, and many analysts believe that Xhekaj deserves to play 82 games.

He deserves better than to be just a 7th defenseman.

And you, do you think he would be better utilized with another team?

In any case, after Elliotte Friedman a few months ago, Louis Jean has now also mentioned that he believes some teams have contacted Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens regarding a trade involving Xhekaj.

There is interest in Arber Xhekaj in the National Hockey League and on the trade market

During a recent appearance on the fantastic new podcast «Poolcast,» a new project by Marco Normandin and Pascal Cameron, Louis Jean mentioned this:

«I have no doubt that there are teams who have called the Canadiens, who have called Kent Hughes, to see if #72 is available for a trade, because these teams would be willing to look in that direction and see what they could do with Xhekaj if the Canadiens don't like him (which is not the case).»

- Louis Jean, who adds that you need an Arber Xhekaj in your lineup.

We recommend listening to the full episode, but if not, the segment on Xhekaj starts around the 26th minute of the following video, to better understand the context and what Jean means here.

This also aligns with what Elliotte Friedman mentioned a few months ago.

At that time, Kent Hughes did not want to trade Arber Xhekaj, but has he changed his mind since?

It's certain he has received calls on this matter.

A story to follow.
