Laurent Dauphin is back with the organization!
This is what we reported a few days ago, but there is a very interesting new piece of information that has come to light following this signing.
Recall that in 2022, Dauphin became a free agent. He was offered a contract by the Montreal Canadiens but refused Kent Hughes' offer to sign with the Arizona Coyotes (now based in Utah).
We're talking about two similar contracts, but he chose the Coyotes because he believed he had a better chance of playing in the NHL there.
That season, he ultimately played 21 games with the Coyotes in the NHL after having played 38 games with the Canadiens in 2021-22.
In short, he recently revealed that he had long regretted his decision.
In an interview with La Presse, he added that he is very happy to be back with the Montreal Canadiens organization and to help the Laval Rocket. He is extremely happy in his role as a veteran.
An article we highly recommend.
He will certainly greatly help the Rocket organization as well as the young Canadiens prospects who will be playing in the AHL.
Dauphin, 29, is a 6-foot, 186-pound center from Repentigny. He was the 39th overall pick by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2013.
Last season, he amassed a solid total of 38 points in 44 games in the Swiss National League A after scoring 41 points in 48 games with the Coyotes' farm team in 2022-23.
Welcome back to the city, Laurent!
