The Trois-Rivières Lions, the Montreal Canadiens' ECHL affiliate, have announced a significant move.
They have successfully signed Quebecois forward Tommy Cormier.
This is a strong acquisition for the organization!
Here's a player who could really climb the ranks in the coming years.
Tommy Cormier, 20 years old and originally from Pont-Rouge, is a purely offensive forward standing 5 feet 7 inches and weighing 150 pounds.
He amassed 79 points in 67 games (30 goals) last season in the QMJHL and has a total of 82 goals and 116 assists (198 points) in his last 160 games in Victoriaville.
If he were a bit taller, many experts believe Tommy Cormier could have been drafted into the NHL, which speaks volumes about his offensive potential.
The next Pierrick Dubé?
As my colleagues at Marqueur report, he could indeed have a similar path to Pierrick Dubé, another player who started with the Trois-Rivières Lions and ultimately played 3 games with the Washington Capitals this season (in the NHL).
A name to remember and a solid acquisition for the Montreal Canadiens' system.
Details to follow.
