Among the four names raised, we can find Jason Botterill, Brad Treliving, Marc Bergevin, and an absolutely nonsensical name, that of Peter Chiarelli.
As a Leafs fan, I would be particularly worried to hear Chiarelli's name in the mix to become the team's leader. His tenure with the Bruins was marred by miserable trades, misplaced loyalties, and poor cap management.
After concluding his nearly 10-year stint in Boston miserably, he was a disaster as the GM of the Edmonton Oilers during his four years in office. Similar to what he did with his former team, he orchestrated pitiful trades, in addition to granting contracts that were financial burdens for the organization for a long time.
It's hard to believe that after two unsuccessful stints as a club's general manager, Chiarelli is again in the discussions to return to office.
However, it must be said that for Canadiens fans, it would certainly be a good show. We could witness the destruction of this team, thanks to the work done by Chiarelli.
As for Bergevin, it would be interesting to see him with the rival team, but at least he could help make big trades, as we know he isn't afraid to pull the trigger. One thing we know for sure, it will be an interesting summer for the Leafs and we can expect plenty of changes.
