Like Connor Bedard, he is a generational talent, and he is the only player available in the next draft with a potential similar to Bedard's.
His statistics in the KHL are historic, and many consider him the best Russian prospect since a certain Alex Ovechkin.
In short, the young man is extremely talented and could completely change a franchise on his own.
However, he comes with two major caveats : his nationality and his contract in the KHL.
If he were Canadian or American, it's sad to say, but he would surely be the unanimous choice for the number two overall pick, and some might even place him ahead of Bedard, but that's not the case.
Michkov comes with big uncertainties.
Many of us hope that the Montreal Canadiens take advantage of the situation and draft him with their first round pick. After all, it only happens a few times in a lifetime that our team has the chance to get a generational talent.
As DansLesCoulisses reports, Stéphane Leroux has just thrown a cold shower on this issue.
He is talking about Michkov here. They continue :
Ouch. Is this the right decision to make in your opinion? Personally, we are really disappointed to hear this major information.
Leroux keeps a slight door open, but let's say that it greatly lowers our expectations.
