Embarrassing scene at the Bell Centre at the end of the game between the Canadiens and the Capitals

Last night, at the very end of the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals, we witnessed an embarrassing scene for the NHL.

Yes, error is human, but in this case, many observers consider it to be truly ridiculous and unacceptable.

It probably didn't change the final result, the Canadiens would probably have lost anyway, but how can a linesman call a phantom icing at such a crucial moment of a game?

Thanks to this incompetent linesman, the Canadiens now have a face-off in the center of the ice instead of simple puck possession and a counterattack.

How does an NHL linesman not realize that the Canadiens are on a power play in the last minute of the game and decide to call icing against the Capitals?<- Stu Cowan

And these images are still being talked about today across the NHL:

It cost the Habs precious seconds, as they were trying to tie the game to send it into overtime.

And it could have also given the Capitals an easy goal, and allowed them to end the game if they had won the face-off at centre.

This cannot happen in the NHL! Can you imagine if it was game 7 in the playoffs.
