This would be quite a turn of events, but the idea isn't ridiculous at all, especially knowing that the general manager who brought Toffoli to Calgary is no longer in office.
In essence, the Habs see Toffoli as an ideal player to help advance the young players and assist the core group composed of Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach, Kaiden Guhle, and others.
We don't hate the idea at all! He's an extraordinary teammate and mentor, as well as still being very productive.
There are players who remain lifelong Habs due to their attitude and he could very well fit that description.
Toffoli continues to care for and regularly see the young players of the Canadiens, like Caufield and Jake Evans. He often comes back to visit Montreal and is very interested in what's happening within the Habs organization.
You can see he misses being here.
We love it. He's a true Hab.
Now that the Flames have made a significant reshuffle at the executive level, and knowing they face salary cap constraints, Toffoli could certainly be on the market.
Remember that he just had an exceptional season with 73 points, despite playing in Darryl Sutter's very defensive system.
According to the same source, Toffoli has attracted the attention of several teams : the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Carolina Hurricanes.
A trade involving Toffoli seems likely and these three teams are favorites to acquire the forward.
A story to follow. Would you like this to happen?
