Excluded from the spring tournament for the first time since 2006, the Penguins are counting on the former GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs to once again be contenders for the Stanley Cup, despite an aging core. As reported by Médérick Lefebvre from Danslescoulisses.com, some players are already in Dubas's sights.
This is at least what Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now said in a recent article, also mentioning that one of the Penguins' priorities will be to free up some big contracts to go after fast but also affordable players.
Among the players targeted by Kingerski, we find Noel Acciari, Jesper Fast, Colin White, Mattias Janmark, Zach Aston-Reese, and Sam Steel.
Even if there are no star players in what has been reported, it nonetheless remains that the Penguins organization does not necessarily want to embark on a rebuilding process.
But a player who could also be of interest to Dubas would certainly be Josh Anderson. The power forward from the Canadiens is a speed merchant and he could produce more if he could play with players of the caliber of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Additionally, the former general manager of the Maple Leafs knows the Canadiens' number 17 well, having faced him often.
However, the journalist did not mention Anderson's name in the article but, I must admit, he would fit perfectly with the Penguins because of his style of play and his leadership and, as we know, his name has been circulating in various trade rumors for a year now.
But his contract could cool off some teams as he still has four years left with an annual salary of 5.5 million dollars.
