Yesterday, a source mentioned that Kent Hughes is actively on the phone trying to conclude a transaction involving possibly a young impact player.
There have actually been trade discussions over the phone this week for Hughes. He is clearly trying very hard to bring in reinforcements right now!
The source in question spoke of a forward targeted by Kent, but it was not known exactly who.
We also learned on Monday that the Detroit Red Wings surprisingly placed the young talented forward Jonatan Berggren on the market.
And now it turns out that these two files could well be linked!
See the details:
Interestingly, the Canadiens are the only team that has been cited by the journalist as being in the race.
Therefore, we understand that we are possibly the favorites to acquire Berggren and it is very interesting.
That doesn't mean it will happen today, but we have serious reasons to believe that the Canadiens are currently trying to acquire Berggren.
Berggren, 23 years old, was the 33rd overall pick in 2018. He broke records in Sweden, with 45 points in 49 games at only 19 years old, and then he came to dominate the American League.
- 64 points in 70 games at 20 years old
- 7 points in 7 games last year
- 15 points in 16 games this season.
He also has a solid 31 points in 73 NHL games. (including 17 goals)
A name to keep in mind in Montreal!
