Major statement: Rafaël Harvey-Pinard ahead of Kirby Dach and a 3rd overall pick?
Rafaël Harvey-Pinard surprised many last season when he had a superb end to the season with the Habs. His 14 goals in 34 games opened the eyes of many who looked down on him due to his draft position (201st overall in 2019).
One of those who never doubted the Quebecer is former NHL goaltender Louis Domingue. The latter stated in a recent segment of Taverne Hockey on the La Poche Bleue podcast that the one nicknamed RHP is much better than Kirby Dach.
"Enough with Kirby Dach. If (Rafaël) Harvey-Pinard had been drafted 5th overall, we wouldn't be talking about Dach. Harvey-Pinard plays better than Kirby Dach." - Louis Domingue
It is understood that Domingue would like RHP to be treated by the organization based on what he brings and not his late draft pick. According to the goaltender, his play last season was better than that of Dach, and this should be reflected in the team's hierarchy.
It will be interesting to see how MSL will use the Quebecer this season. RHP, who can go to the AHL without going through waivers, has recently been sidelined from the club's final lineup by several analysts. He will, once again, have to prove his place with the main club, as his status puts him at a disadvantage even before the start of camp.
