For some time now, Josh Anderson's name has been part of the trade rumors. His style of play would be of interest to many teams who have in mind to make it far in the playoffs and his value on the market is very interesting for a general manager.

Kent Hughes, however, is not in a hurry to trade him. Anderson, who is only 28 years old, has four seasons left on his deal at $5.5 million each. He will become free agent after the 2026-2027 season.

The GM could however move in this file if and only if he receives an offer that he cannot refuse. This offer could come more this summer than by March 3rd.

The main interested party addressed the subject Tuesday night after the CH's 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils. Here is what he had to say:

"I hope to still be a member of the Habs after the trade deadline."

"Sometimes it's in your head and it's hard to escape it, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. You can't change anything, it's not in your hands, so you just go out there, do your best and hope to stay with the Montreal Canadiens" - Josh Anderson

We love it!

As mentioned above, patience is required in the case of Anderson, but we should not wait too long. It is true that he is relatively young but he could very well become a liability for the team in a short time. Given his physical style of play, his 30's could very well catch up to him and, a bit like Brendan Gallagher, hurt the club's payroll in the last years of his contract.

For these reasons, it would be surprising if Anderson finishes his contract in the blue-white-red uniform. It would also be surprising if the separation with the CH is done in the next two weeks, but you never know...
