Possible Major Trade Involving Alexis Lafrenière: Significant Statement from Renowned Elliotte Friedman
After three seasons with the New York Rangers, Alexis Lafrenière's entry contract is now over.
The top pick of the 2020 draft, the Quebec forward has not had a career start worthy of a number one pick, and many experts wonder if a change of scenery might do him good.
However, it seems that the Rangers' organization has a plan for their young left winger.
A trade for Lafrenière? Not necessarily in the short term
According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Lafrenière should logically sign a transition contract and thus not change address, at least, for the moment.
That's at least what he mentioned during the last episode of the 32 Thoughts podcast season. See his statement on the possibility of a major trade involving Lafrenière:
"If you trade him now, it will be at a low value. So, it is better to try to solve the problem and that's indeed what led them to bet on Peter Laviolette and Michael Peca. They hope they will play an important role here."
