Surprise: a former 10th overall pick has just been released
As reported by my colleague, a former 10th overall pick has just been released.
The St. Louis Blues have indeed already terminated the professional tryout contract of Nick Ritchie.
Unfortunately, it seems like it might be the end for him.
Ritchie, 27 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 236-pound forward. He was drafted 10th overall in 2014 by the Anaheim Ducks.
Last season, with the Arizona Coyotes and the Calgary Flames, he amassed 26 points in 74 games (13 goals).
Over his NHL career, he has accumulated 186 points in 481 games, in addition to 483 penalty minutes. Hopefully, this is not the end for him.
More details to follow.
Will a team give him another chance?
