The real reason for Denis Gurianov's departure from Montreal is revealed and it's not what we thought
As we reported in the last few hours, forward Denis Gurianov officially left the Montreal Canadiens today.
He signed a one-year contract with the Nashville Preds.
After this announcement, interesting new information surfaced, especially regarding the real reason for Gurianov's departure.
"The Canadiens had a real and sincere interest in bringing him (Gurianov) back, but they first had to lighten the surplus of forwards. Obviously, they haven't done it yet." - Arpon Basu
So it's not because of Gurianov's performance that he leaves Montreal.
Nor is it because of his contractual demands or due to a lack of interest from Kent Hughes, it's simply because the Habs have too many forwards currently under contract.
They tried to make room to bring Gurianov back at $900,000, but without success.
Suzuki, Gallagher, Anderson, Hoffman, Dvorak, Armia, Dach, Newhook, Evans, Pitlick, Harvey-Pinard, Pezzetta, Caufield, Monahan, Slafkovsky and possibly Owen Beck, Joshua Roy and Sean Farrell... It's true that it's a lot of forwards for 12 spots.
Good luck to Guri in Nashville!
