As a reminder, in the end of the season interviews and press conferences, Hughes confirmed that he would definitely try a new "Kirby Dach like" transaction.
Essentially, he would not hesitate to trade his second first round pick (the one of the Panthers) or a young defenseman, like Jordan Harris, to acquire a young forward with very high potential.
With that in mind, here are D'Amico's three suggestions, as reported by Marco Normandin.
Of course.
2- Kaapo Kakko
A player that Jeff Gorton knew very well with the New York Rangers, who is stuck on the third line of his team.
As a reminder, Kakko was the second overall pick in 2019, selected one spot ahead of Kirby Dach, and he's starting to emerge.
He just had his best season yet, at only 21 years old (18 goals and 40 points in 82 games). We're talking about a 6-foot-3, 210-pound winger.
His potential is very high and we love this option.
3- Alex Newhook
His latest suggestion is Newhook. He was drafted immediately after a certain Cole Caufield, but he was ranked in the top 5 of the 2019 Draft by several experts.
Newhook, 22 years old, was drafted 17th overall in 2019. He collected 30 points (14 goals) in 82 games this season with the Colorado Avalanche. He's a 5-foot-10 center who dominated in junior and NCAA ranks. His potential is very high.
For explanations and details:
Do you like the idea? Would you trade the Florida Panthers' 2023 first round pick for Dubois, Kakko, or Newhook?
Just imagine getting your hands on both Kakko AND Dubois.
