In the last few seconds, the Nashville Preds have made a significant trade with the Colorado Avalanche.

The Predators just traded their first-line center!

Nashville has just traded Ryan Johansen to Colorado. In return, the rights to Alex Galchenyuk are going to the Preds.

Please note that half of Johansen's salary, which is eight million dollars for two seasons, is retained by the new General Manager, Barry Trotz.

"Whoa! Big trade! We're freeing up cap space in Nashville and adding a solid 2nd line center to Colorado!

Surprised that Johansen didn't have a higher value with a 50% retention!"

- Marc-Olivier Beaudoin

That's well summarized, and it's indeed a good gamble by the Avalanche's General Manager, who has been looking for a second-line center for several months. It won't have been Sean Monahan, nor Jonathan Toews, nor anyone else; it will ultimately be Johansen who takes the spot left vacant by Nazem Kadri a year ago.

More details will follow.
