Trade Involving a Goalie and Draft Picks to Be Announced Tonight? Kent Hughes Will Need to Move Quickly as the NHL Roster Freeze Kicks in at Midnight
For several seasons, the NHL has been freezing team rosters during the holiday period.
This season, this period extends from December 19 at 11:59 PM to December 28 at 00:01 AM, local time. Therefore, it will be prohibited for teams to trade players, place players on waivers, or assign players to minor leagues.
This means that NHL GMs have one last day to modify their lineup before the holiday season. It will be interesting to see if there will be movement in the league during this ultimate day. Last year, only one minor transaction took place.
Today, we will keep an eye on the CH as the club might take the opportunity to end its three-goalie situation. With Jake Allen coming out of his slump Monday night against the mighty Jets and many teams in need of a goalie, the pieces are in place to resolve this issue.
On the other hand, Kent Hughes has always had a lot of respect for his players. It would be surprising to see him move one on the eve of the holiday season, separating him from his family during the festivities.
However, he himself mentioned recently in a press conference that he would be surprised to have three goalies by Christmas.
Well, if he doesn't want three goalies by Christmas, he has to sort it out today.
