Transaction announced between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers? A big winger has just been targeted, and it is Raphaël Lavoie
As you know, the Montreal Canadiens will soon have a very big decision to make with young goaltender Cayden Primeau.
Soon, as in "in a few days."
There are three options. Keep him with the Canadiens, trade him, or place him on waivers.
It all will depend on his performance over the next few days.
On the side of the Edmonton Oilers, they also have a player in a very similar situation. He is a Quebecer and his name is Raphaël Lavoie.
"Lavoie is now waiver eligible, meaning he would have to go through waivers if he's sent down to Bakersfield (AHL)."
Teams like Montreal, who might like to add a six-foot-four Quebec winger to their small roster, will watch performances like the one put on by Lavoie on Monday."
- Mark Spector, Sportsnet journalist covering the Oilers
They also must either trade Lavoie, keep him with them, or place him on waivers.
And they have a major logjam at forward.
It's interesting to see that Spector just pinpointed the Canadiens as a possible destination in a trade involving Lavoie.
Is a trade involving Cayden Primeau and Raphaël Lavoie conceivable? To be continued!
Lavoie, 23 years old, is a native of Chambly. He was the 38th overall pick (2nd round) of the 2019 draft and he scored 45 points in 61 games in the AHL last season.
He is a big winger, measuring 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 200 pounds.
