This morning, during his regular segment on BPM Sports, journalist Renaud Lavoie made an interesting statement regarding Samuel Montembeault.

He stated that, according to what he has heard from various NHL general managers, the name of a specific player from the Montreal Canadiens is starting to circulate seriously within the league - that player being Sam Montembeault.

Here is a summary of his comments:

"Now, you'll like what I'm about to tell you. I'm going back to the Canadiens to tell you which name is being talked about a lot here in Boca Raton (at the GM meeting).

It's that of Samuel Montembeault.

But Samuel is still signed for next year. I don't know what will happen to the Canadiens next year. Will they make the playoffs? Will there be a plethora of injuries again? I don't know, but if this team doesn't make the playoffs, in my opinion, there will be big trade offers on the table for Samuel.

When I say big offers, for the Montreal Canadiens to get rid of a goalie, it's a first-round pick, and if Samuel has another good season, it could be a first-round pick and more (these are two options).

So, if Samuel Montembeault's name is circulating a lot among NHL executives, it's because they are watching him and finding him very good [...]"

According to Lavoie, Kent Hughes could receive very enticing trade proposals for Samuel Montembeault over the next few months.

Two types of trade offers are being proposed:

- A first-round pick for Montembeault

- A first-round pick and another asset for Montembeault.

For fun, let's ask the question put forward by Renaud Lavoie.

Would you trade Montembeault for a 2024 1st round pick and a 2024 4th round pick?
