Wow: a rumor has just been confirmed regarding a trade between the Canadiens and the Capitals that was indeed discussed for Anthony Mantha
Really interesting!
The rumor has been circulating over the past few days, but now, according to renowned David Pagnotta, it's confirmed.
The Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals have indeed discussed a trade involving Anthony Mantha and Joel Armia.
"I'm told that the Habs indeed had a conversation with the Washington Capitals about Anthony Mantha and that Montreal forward Joel Armia was part of the discussion."
The Fourth Period
A situation to monitor! It will be really interesting to see if this will eventually lead to an actual transaction.
Mantha, 29, is a 6-foot-5, 234-pound Quebecois forward. He has recorded two points in 5 games this season with the Capitals. (27 in 67 last season)
He earns $5.7 million per year until 2024.
Armia, 30, is a 6-foot-3, 216-pound Finnish forward. He has collected five points in 4 games this season with the Laval Rocket in the AHL. (14 in 43 last season in the NHL, with the Habs)
He earns $3.4 million per year until 2025.
Would you make such a trade? Reading Pagnotta's comments, it seems clear that the Montreal Canadiens are on board with such a transaction, but the Washington Capitals are more hesitant.
Stay tuned!
