Journalist Allan Mitchell, who covers the Edmonton Oilers, has just raised a potential trade with the Montreal Canadiens involving two young players.

As we reported to you earlier, the name of Justin Barron has been linked to Connor McDavid's team immediately after signing his new contract with the Montreal Canadiens.

Why? Because the Oilers are looking for a right-shot defenseman with interesting potential who won't be expensive. This fits Barron's profile perfectly.

Mitchell has thus targeted three names: Justin Barron, Rasmus Andersson, and Artem Zub.

In the case of the Canadiens' number 52 defenseman, the Edmonton journalist went a bit further and even suggested a possible concrete trade.

A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers involving Justin Barron and Philip Broberg? Allan Mitchell seems to believe in it

Do you think this could interest Kent Hughes?

«In his article, the one working for The Athletic stated that to acquire Zub from Ottawa, Philip Broberg would probably' be requested by the Senators, even though he is left-handed. And later in his column, he wondered if a Broberg-Barron trade is possible.»

- Raphael Simard

«Right-shot defensemen who can play on the top two pairings are in high demand.»

- Allan Mitchell

Do you think this trade could interest Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton?

MONTREAL receives - Philip Broberg

EDMONTON receives - Justin Barron

This doesn't solve the surplus of defensemen in Montreal, but I think it would still allow the Canadiens to improve.

I believe Broberg is better than Barron... and you? What do you think?

Philip Broberg, aged 23, is a left-shot Swedish defenseman who is 23 years old.

He is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 212 pounds, so he has a good size, and he scored a solid 38 points in 49 games last season in the AHL.

This 8th overall pick by the Oilers in 2019 (1st round) has 81 games of NHL experience, but it was mainly during the last playoffs that he shone, as he was used in very important situations.
