Former Habs coach reveals who he would pick between Slaf and Tkachuk
Juraj Slafkovsky and Brady Tkachuk have been very important players for the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators this season.
We are talking about two very good young wingers, among the best in the NHL.
In the past few hours, on 98.5 Sports, former Montreal Canadiens goaltending coach Stéphane Waite discussed a rather surprising topic concerning them.
Which one would he pick first in a trade?
I imagine they know such a transaction will never happen, but for the sake of discussion and debate, to entertain their listeners, they talked about it.
Would you trade Juraj Slafkovsky for Brady Tkachuk?
See Waite's answer.
Stéphane Waite would not be willing to part with Juraj Slafkovsky to acquire Brady Tkachuk.
This proposal would be "a red flag" from Ottawa:
"I believe Slafkovsky will become a better overall player"
- Stéphane Waite, via 98.5 Sports.
This confirms what we thought.
The Senators will never have to consider it because Kent Hughes will never do it and will never propose such a trade, but we agree with Waite on this one.
We would take Slafkovsky over Tkachuk.
Slafkovsky, 20, scored 35 points in 39 games to finish the 2023-2024 season. He was a first overall pick in 2022.
Tkachuk, 24, scored 43 points in 43 games to finish the 2023-2024 season. He was a fourth overall pick in 2018.
The Montreal Canadiens forward is still impressing the hockey world, this time at the Ice Hockey World Championship with the Slovakian team.
